Ana is a single mother who works as a homemaker both in her own home and in other households, where she works for a few days doing domestic chores. She will be living with her son in the new house (who was not home at the time of the interview).
The land and the house belong to Ana’s ex-husband, who is allowing her and her son to live there, and in return she basically takes care of the house. It was built 13 years ago and is made entirely of adobe. During the rainy season, both the house and the land become flooded with water because the area is very swampy.
