Sabina is a hardworking woman who takes care of the daily household chores. From time to time, she sells corn tamales, atole, and other traditional snacks. She is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in San Salvador because she has suffered three serious falls over the past four years. She will be living with one of her sons, but he was not at home at the time of the interview.
The house was built entirely out of adobe 40 years ago, and the effects of time can already be seen in the walls. In addition to the two of them, 14 other people also live there, making it a very limited space for living comfortably.
