Vladimir, together with Berta, runs a small food business at the local market in Santiago. They have been doing this for about three years now, usually opening their business on weekdays. Vladimir and Berta have been together for about 18 years and have two sons. Berta (the homeowner) was working at the time of the interview.
Their house was built about six years ago. Their previous home was made of adobe, but after a strong storm caused one of the walls to collapse, they had to rebuild it using metal sheets.
