Why a Christmas Campaign?
Shelter Helps partners with short-term mission teams from North America to share the gospel with Salvadorans in need through the provision of a home. These teams raise the funds for every house they come to build and have the opportunity to connect relationally with each family receiving a home. However, there are times during the year, like the warm summer months in Canada, when teams traditionally haven’t planned mission trips. Through our annual Christmas Campaign, we raise funds to continue building homes even when teams aren’t here. The homes we build during this season are often in extremely rural communities where it would be difficult to transport North American teams.
$760,000 Provides Homes for 190 Families in Two Villages
This Christmas, you can help us provide a safe and dignified home for 190 families in the communities of Los Guevaras and El Pajuilar. Our community development team has worked closely with the leaders and pastors in these communities to interview, vet, and select the families with the greatest need. Throughout this process, we have visited each family in their current place of residence and witnessed firsthand how incredibly impactful a safe home would be for their family. We’ve also had the opportunity to share the message of the Gospel during community-wide meetings. Get to know some of their stories below.
