Wheels of Hope

Our Goal

To raise $110,000 USD by July 2026 for 2 pickup trucks & 1 van

The Shelter pickup trucks and vans are an indispensable part of how we bring hope to thousands of families in El Salvador. We strive to steward them well. By owning our vehicles, we were able to provide cost-effective and reliable transportation for every one of the 594 team members that came on 34 different teams last year. Not only does our transportation department keep our vehicles clean and safe, they even perform most of the wear-and-tear maintenance at our office to keep our fleet running and cut down on cost. Stewardship is one of our Core Values at Shelter, and we believe it’s on full-display in the area of transportation.

One challenge we face as we do ministry in El Salvador is the condition of the roads. We often transport teams to rural, hard-to-reach communities where the dirt roads reflect the difficulties of life, and it’s in these places where we provide safe and dignified homes for Salvadoran families in great need. Over time, the wear on our vehicles becomes too great and the time and money spent on repairs must be considered. We’ve reached that critical point with 3 vehicles in our fleet and it’s time to replace them.

We are praying for the funds necessary to purchase 2 pickup trucks ($31,500 USD each) and 1 multi-passenger van ($46,990). With stewardship at the forefront of our minds, we will sell 2 of the vehicles we’re replacing, and keep one pickup as a spare for weeks when we have 3 teams in country.

We are grateful for the many ways that you have partnered faithfully with us here at Shelter. Because of your generosity, we are able to continue sharing the Gospel through the provision of safe and dignified homes for Salvadorans in need.
